The critically endangered BLACK BEARDED SAKI is found in the far eastern Amazon of Brazil. They are threatened by habitat loss and pressures from hunting. Their scientific name Chiropotes, means “hand-drinker.”

ON THE EDGE is a series featuring creatures with one foot precariously dangling over that great gully of extinction, who now unfortunately must look to us to tug them back onto stable ground.
If you are even slightly intrigued by any of the animals in this collection please, follow the links and learn a bit more. I promise, these creatures are worth it. Hope you enjoy the series and thank you for the support.
