The LION-TAILED MACAQUE is an endangered species of Old World Monkey found in Southwestern India. Unlike many other species of macaque they avoid humans. Their population has decreased due to loss of the tropical moist evergreen forests they call home.
Here are some groups working to ensure this species future – National Zoo / Joseph Shijo / Bristol Zoo
ON THE EDGE is a series featuring creatures with one foot precariously dangling over that great gully of extinction, who now unfortunately must look to us to tug them back onto stable ground.
If you are even slightly intrigued by any of the animals in this collection please, follow the links and learn a bit more. I promise, these creatures are worth it. Hope you enjoy the series and thank you for the support.
